The Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge have been awarded with eco-friendly carbon labelling certifications in US, UK, Japan, Korea, and Russia. It means that Samsung’s latest smartphones don’t use any environment hazardous chemical substances such as Halogen, Beryllium, and PVC. They also come with packaging and support documentation made from 100 percent recycled paper. The Galaxy Note 4 received environment friendly certification from UL (Underwriter’s Laboratories from US), Carbon Trust (UK), Ecological Union (‘Vitality Leaf’ – Russian Union), and Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute. The Galaxy Note Edge received Eco-Leak environment labelling from Japanese Industrial Environmental Management Association.
The Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Note were some of the first smartphones to receive such environment friendly certification by Carbon Trust. The carbon labelling certification system for electronic devices was started in February 2009 to promote a low-carbon environment, which is a system to check greenhouse gas emissions of a particular product in the process of its complete life cycle including its development, production, distribution, usage, and disposal.
