Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 4

The new versus the old comparison has been the highlight of the Samsung Galaxy series.

The Korean giant has been quick to release its latest versions into the smartphone arena. However, the latest and updated version released by the Korean number one smartphone manufacturing company, brought its earlier released versions directly in competition with each other.

Samsung has been the unprecedented king of the smartphone arena. However, with respect to the tablet segment, the Korean giant took time to establish its feet into the arena. The release of the Galaxy Note 3 tablet took the market by storm. The Note 3 dominated the phablet segment from the word go and continued to do so for a long time.

The release of its successor, the Galaxy Note 4 tablet this year has popped up the question – whether the Note 3 owners would upgrade to the latest release or not? Let us find out in the comparison review of both these prized tablets.

Interface and Functionality

The newer TouchWiz experience with the Note 4 tablet is not very different to what the Note 3 users have experienced already. However, the new software features in the Note 4 tablet mark the major difference between the two tablets. Visually, both the handsets offer a similar cartoony and outdated TouchWiz experience.

Looking past the external stuff, the latest software features added to the Note 4 provides it an upper edge over the Note 3 tablet. To be precise, the latest swipe features allow access to a plethora of functions. Additionally, the enhanced S Pen feature has increased the functionality of the Note 4 tablet.

Processor and Memory

In terms of the processor, the Note 4 tablet comes with additional advantages for being a successor to the Note 3 handset. The Note 4 comes equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, which offers better performance than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, equipped in the Note 3 tablet. However, there is hardly any considerable difference between the performances of both the handsets. The Note 3 and Note 4 handsets are competent to load pages quickly in the web browser,
launch applications rapidly and are quick to navigate across the home screen.
In terms of storage, both handsets come equipped with 32GB of internal memory, which is further complemented by microSD card slots for memory enhancement.

Camera

The Note 4 comes equipped with an enhanced 16MP primary camera, as compared to the 13MP rear camera of the Note 3 handset. However, both the handsets encompass the optical image stabilization feature, which holds things steady while clicking snaps and recording videos.

Verdict

The Note 4 might draw out potential buyers for buying a newer version, but the battle with Note 3 would be a tough one. The Galaxy Note 3 is still a competent device in the phablet segment.
