Samsung has a plethora of phones and tablets in its lineup, and regularly releases firmware updates for various devices. These can include major updates, which bring a newer version of the OS to a particular device, or minor ones that improve performance and stability and fix bugs. Software updates for Samsung devices roll out in various regions every day, and you can find out which firmware updates were pushed out by the company over the last 24 hours through our firmware list.
As usual, you can download each of these firmware from our firmware section (simply enter your device’s model number to view all firmware for that device) in order to update to a new firmware manually, or as a means to return to your phone or tablet’s stock software.

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge now available from Vodafone UK

note-edge-feature
Last week, it was announced that the Galaxy Note Edge would go up for sale in the UK from December 12. Well, that day has finally arrived, as the curved device is now available in the country from Vodafone. As revealed earlier, the phone is available for £795 when bought SIM-free, or at plans starting at £49 for those ready to enter a contract. That’s a rather high price, but again, for a device that features a unique display like the Galaxy Note Edge’s, you can’t really expect the price tag to be cheap.
Other than its 5.6-inch Edge display and a smaller (3,000mAh) battery, the Note Edge features mostly the same specs as the Galaxy Note 4. These include a QHD display resolution, Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz, 3GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, heart rate and fingerprint sensors, a 3.7-megapixel wide-angle front-facing camera, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat
Don’t forget to check out our hands-on preview of the Galaxy Note Edge if you’re thinking of buying the device.

Samsung Galaxy S6 prototype

Samsung-Logo-feature
Samsung does everything it can to keep its flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note devices, but we often see prototype devices leak in the wild. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S6 might just have made an appearance in prototype form –Toptienmobiel has published a picture of what is said to be a prototype of the Galaxy S6. The stickers at the top of the device indicate it’s not the final version of the device, which shouldn’t come as a surprise since there are still a couple of months left before the Galaxy S6 is expected to come out.
Keep one thing is mind folks, we can’t confirm if this is the real deal or not, so take this picture with a pinch of salt.
UPDATE: Nothing to see here, folks. Our sources have just confirmed that this is NOT a Galaxy S6 prototype.

Snapdragon 810-equipped Galaxy Note 4

Snapdragon-810-Feature-190-140
A few days ago, SamMobile exclusively reported about Samsung testing a special variant of the Galaxy Note 4 sporting Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 810 SoC for major Korean carriers, including SK Telecom (SM-N916S), Olleh (SM-N916K), and LG Uplus (SM-N916L). Now, the Snapdragon 810-equipped Galaxy Note 4 has made an appearance on Geekbench, a popular benchmarking tool; backing up our original report.
The only difference between the standard and this new special variant of the Note 4 is the System-on-Chip; visually, they both are identical. The Galaxy Note 4 is already available in two processor configurations, Snapdragon 805 and Exynos 7 Octa. However, both of them are 32-bit processors, which means they can’t run Android 5.0 Lollipop in 64-bit mode, nor can run native 64-bit applications. Whereas, Qualcomm’s latest offering – Snapdragon 810 (MSM8994) – is a fully 64-bit chip; actually, the world’s first 64-bit oct-core chip running in ARM’s big.LITTLE configuration.
Qualcomm recently announced that it has added LTE Category 9 support in SD810, which can reach up to 450Mbps download speeds. Moreover, the SoC also comes with an Adreno 430 GPU clocked at 650MHz. Rest of the hardware is the same as the standard Galaxy Note 4. Software-wise, the special variant will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
According to our insiders, Samsung will launch the Snapdragon 810-equipped Galaxy Note 4 in Spring of 2015, and release will be exclusive to Korea.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play edition starts receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop update

Google might be a bit late with this, but the search giant is finally updating theGalaxy S4 Google Play edition to Android 5.0 Lollipop. We gave you an exclusive preview of the update running on the device earlier at the beginning of this month, though the official update is a newer build. It’s not 5.0.1, which started rolling out to Nexus and other Google Play edition devices this week, but we’re sure that incremental upgrade won’t be too far behind.
With the Lollipop update for the Galaxy S4 GPe, you can expect to see all the standard Android 5.0 features, including the new Material Design UI, faster performance, lockscreen notifications, multi-user support, improved battery life, support for numerous new languages, and restored access to external storage for third-party apps. The update is around 500MB in size and is rolling over the air; it should soon appear on your device on its own, though you can also force it show up right away from the Settings » About phone » System updates menu.
For those that need a refresher, the standard Galaxy S4 will also be updated to Lollipop sometime next year, and you can check out our exclusive hands-on video of an early build running on the phone.
