190 sammobile
Samsung has a plethora of phones and tablets in its lineup, and regularly releases firmware updates for various devices. These can include major updates, which bring a newer version of the OS to a particular device, or minor ones that improve performance and stability and fix bugs. Software updates for Samsung devices roll out in various regions every day, and you can find out which firmware updates were pushed out by the company over the last 24 hours through our firmware list.
As usual, you can download each of these firmware from our firmware section (simply enter your device’s model number to view all firmware for that device) in order to update manually, or as a means to return to your phone or tablet’s stock software.

Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 might get Android L in November/December

samsung-logo-feature-4
Android L is one of the best versions of Android since the OS’ inception, bringing over a new design direction and quite a few important features, like a switch to Google’s new ART runtime for apps, lockscreen notifications, and support for 64-bit processors. Naturally, people have been wondering when their Samsung devices will get updated to Android L, and thanks to our insiders, we have an estimated time frame for the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 4. Both devices should get the Android L update by the end of November/early December – it’s not clear when Google will make the new version available for Nexus devices, but based on our info Samsung should be pretty quick at adapting it for its own devices.
Of course, with software updates it’s never a guarantee that these time frames will work out, so it would be best not to get your hopes too high. However, with competing devices like the low-end Moto G getting quick updates these days, it’s possible Samsung is working at pushing updates faster than it has in the past, a scenario we can always get behind.

Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 goes on sale in Asia

galaxy-mega-2-featured
We have been hearing about Samsung working on a new Galaxy Mega deviceand now the company has officially listed it on its Thai website. The 6-inch Galaxy Mega 2 can now be purchased in Thailand through this website and since it has been officially listed, we get to find out just exactly what the Galaxy Mega 2 is packing under the hood.
Coming in at 163.6 x 84.9 x 8.6 mm the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has a 6-inch display with 720×1280 pixel resolution. Its no surprise that the display is this big given that it replaces last year’s Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Mega 5.8.
It is powered by a 1.5GHz quadcore processor, presumably Samsung’s own Exynos chip though this hasn’t been confirmed by the company yet, aided by 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage expandable via microSD cards. There’s an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2.1 megapixel front facing camera.
Powered by Android 4.4 KitKat the Galaxy Mega 2 also has software features offered by some of the company’s flagship devices such as the Ultra Power Saving Mode. Samsung hasn’t said at this point in time if the Galaxy Mega 2 will be released in markets across North America and Europe, for the time being it appears to be limited to Asia only.

Samsung’s new ATIV Clock app precedes Windows Phone 8.1 update for ATIV phones

samsung-ativ-s-windows-phone-8-picture-1-feature
Samsung has been quiet on its plans to update its ATIV smartphones to Windows Phone 8.1, but the company has now indirectly confirmed that the update is certainly coming, and it’s coming soon. Samsung has launched a new app for Windows Phone called ATIV Clock, and oddly, the app is only supported on Windows Phone 8.1, which is as good as a sign as any that the Korean manufacturer is going to update its devices to the feature-packed latest versionof Microsoft’s underdog operating system in the near future.
The ATIV Clock app allows users to select a custom time zone and then see that time through a Live Tile on the Start screen, taking advantage of Windows Phone 8.1 ability to update Live Tiles in real-time, and also allows adding calendar events based on the time in different cities and countries. The app is currently available on theWindows Phone Store; Samsung will likely roll out the Windows Phone 8.1 update very soon, unless it intends to let the ATIV Clock app remain useless and inaccessible to any Windows Phone device out there.

Samsung has sold 1 million Galaxy S5′s in Germany

s5-fingerprint-feature
The Galaxy Note 4 might be the Samsung device making the headlines around the world, but the Galaxy S5 is still the Korean manufacturer’s primary flagship smartphone until the Galaxy Note 4 goes on sale. According to Samsung, the Galaxy S5 is doing pretty well, at least in Germany – the company has announced that it has sold 1 million units of the S5 in the country. That’s actual units put in the hands of consumers, instead of the total number of units shipped to retailers, and the millionth customer was awarded a €500 voucher.
The Galaxy S5 got off to a good start upon launch, even if it didn’t attract as much attention as the Galaxy S4. Samsung managed to ship 10 million units with 10 days of the S5′s release, and the 1 million sales milestone in a market like Germany should be good news for the company, especially at the time when Apple’s new 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhones have been launched.
